HISD wants to change the way our school works to a more restricted style that teaches to a test.
Last summer, Mike Miles, Houston Independent School District’s new Superintendent, implemented the New Education System (NES) at 85 schools. Last week, Miles released the 2022-2023 academic accountability ratings for HISD campuses. These ratings were calculated by the district, not officially released by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Based on those ratings, Love Elementary is one of 24 schools who “have the option to be considered for the NES” for the 2024-2025 school year. HISD has indicated that the decision to become a NES school will be at least partially made by the parents and community of the school, as well as our principal Mr. Tellez.
